Youth Programs

One of WACP’s most important contributions to the community of Winston is the management of the Winston Teen Center as a hub for after school and summer programs for the youth of the Winston-Dillard school district. The center strives to provide both a safe after-school space for local youth to spend time and a variety of engaging and edifying youth programs to expand the hearts and minds of the under-served young people of Winston.

Programs sponsored by the Winston Teen Center include the Shakespeare Time youth theatre club, the G3 Garden Club (part of the Growing Healthy Kids program), the Codemasters computer science club, as well as an ever-expanding variety of weekly tournaments, youth events, and age-appropriate games and movies available on a drop-in basis at the center.

Other youth programs sponsored by WACP include the student organization TADA (Teens Against Drug Abuse) at the Winston Middle School and the annual Youth Madrigal Dinner fundraiser. In the past, WACP was instrumental in obtaining grants to both build the Winston Community Center and the Winston skate park.
